The Round-Bellied Umbrella Stand, Antique Mother of Pearl, Gold and Lustre is shaped and decorated by hand by Ceramiche Sofia in Caltagirone. The round-bellied body rises toward a wide, flared neck; on the shoulder and at the base run friezes of volutes and lilies modeled in relief, and on the belly stands out a lozenge-shaped medallion with a large amber-colored sphere at the center. All around, amber-colored spheres and small gold spheres are applied. The surface is in antique mother of pearl, ivory with gray veils, and the rim and the foot are in copper-colored lustre.
