In the heart of Sicily, where the art of ceramics has thousand-year-old roots, La Testa di moro was born, a unique expression of craftsmanship that brings with it the history and culture of Caltagirone. This splendid work of art, handmade, represents not only a decorative object of rare beauty but also a piece of Sicilian history that is renewed over time.
The creation of each turban head is the result of careful workmanship that follows ancient techniques handed down from generation to generation. The process begins with the selection of the finest clay, which is expertly molded into the vessel's shape. After an initial firing, the ceramic is hand painted with bright colours, where blue and orange blend in a chromatic embrace that evokes the warm shades of the Mediterranean. A second firing seals the colors, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.
In addition to its evident aesthetic beauty, La Testa di Moro Turbante h 25 cm symbolizes the fusion between the ancient ceramic tradition of Caltagirone and the innovation of contemporary design. The intense blue recalls the sky and the sea that embrace Sicily, while the orange recalls the colors of the earth and the fruits that thrive under the island's sun. Together, these shades tell stories of travels, encounters and cultural exchanges that have enriched Sicily over the centuries.

100% artisanal ceramic
For almost 20 years Sofia La Maiolica of Caltagirone has been involved in the artisanal production of unique majolica pieces, decorated and modeled by hand. They are inspired by the classic style of Caltagirone ceramics from all eras, made with unique glazes that recall the origins of the oriental world in which the colors were produced by the fusion of kaolin-based glazes. The manufacturing process that leads to the creation of our ceramics is divided into six important phases:
Turning, Drying, First firing, Enamelling, Decoration and Aging .
For each of these phases we dedicate the utmost care to every detail so that the final product is the result of a unique, inimitable and unaltered work over time. The main feature of purchasing a non-industrial product is precisely this: owning a unique product .
